SOUTH CHINA, MAINE-Martin S. Laughy, 92, formerly of Sanbornville, New Hampshire, passed away December 29, 2022 at the MaineGeneral in Augusta, Maine. He was born in Wilmot, New Hampshire on February 6, 1930, a son of John W. and Lena M. (Blanchard) Laughy Sr..
Martin attended school locally in New Hampshire and joined the Army in 1951, proudly serving his country until 1954. Throughout is life, he worked in various factories as well as the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
Martin was active as a deacon in his church in Rochester, New Hampshire. He volunteered his time to the Salvation Army and he was a member of the VFW. Some of Martin’s favorite pastimes include camping with his family and working on his “projects”. In 2002, he moved to the Augusta, Maine area.
He is survived by his children, Patsy Lever and her husband, Richard, Robin Duncklee, Mary Laughy, and Michael Laughy and his wife, Terri; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and even great great grandchildren; a brother, William Laughy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his infant son, Martin S. Laughy Jr., his daughter, Carol Rice, and his wives, Beatrice (Gilmore) Laughy, and Janet (House) Laughy.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 10th at 10am at the Augusta First Church of the Nazarene, 30 Nazarene Dr., Augusta, ME 04330. Burial will take place in the spring at Pine Hill Cemetery in Wilmot Flat, NH. Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330.
