Obituary for Richard Robert Brann

WEST GARDINER-- Richard “Dick” Robert Brann, 71, from West Gardiner, Maine, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Massachusetts General Hospital on Wednesday, December 21st, 2022.

Dick was born on February 19th 1951, in Augusta, Maine to his parents Laurette and Richard Brann. Dick is one of five children. He graduated from Cony High School in 1969, and shortly after entered the Navy, and Army. After retiring from the United States Armed Forces, Dick also retired from the United States Post Office. Dick and Hilda loved camping at the Moorings’ RV Resort in Belfast, Maine.

Their camper became their summer home for over eighteen years where they created a life full of love, laughs and many beautiful friendships along the way. Dick adored playing golf with his friends and family, especially his son-in-law Bob. He also enjoyed traveling with his son in law, Phil. Dick loved to travel all over the world, and more than anything he loved spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his mother; his sister, Gail Martin; and son-in-law, Christopher Brune.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Hilda; his two daughters, Heather Ahearn and her husband Bob, and Hilary Jean and her husband Phil; two granddaughters, Kieran Ahearn and her fiancé Brian Garay, and Katie Jean; his father, Richard Brann; and his siblings, Bob Brann and his wife Debbie, Linda Soule and her husband Wayne, and Lorna Botts. Dick is also survived by his Fletcher family, Cheryl and Dick Conley, Judy and Larry Sargent, Mike and Elaine Fletcher, Kippy and Jean Fletcher, Edson and Barbra Fletcher, Ronnie and Glenda Fletcher, many nieces, nephews, and his special little kitty Olive.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, Maine. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 29 at 1:30 at the funeral home. A celebration of life will follow the service, details to be announced. Burial will take place in the spring.
