Obituary for Normande J. Redmond (Loubier)

Normande J. Redmond, daughter of Joseph and Albertine Loubier, born July 10, 1926, in St. Prosper, Quebec, Canada, passed away May 11, 2022 at Northern Light Lakewood Continuing Care in Waterville, Maine. Of her five siblings, her sister, Gervaise Auclair of Ste. Marie, Quebec, Canada and brother Claude Loubier of Augusta, Maine are the sole survivors.
As a young woman, her story that is very dear to her, is her work at Chez Julienne. This was a women’s clothing store in St. George, Quebec, Canada. She not only used her natural talent with fashion and modeling, but she also made hats to add a touch to outfits she sold.
Normande raised her family in North Anson, Me. She is leaving behind Bill Redmond, wife Julie and daughter Hannah Holman and husband Kevin. Lillian Matthews, husband Tom and sons Adam, wife Katie, Justin, wife Jill, and Eric, wife Sandy. Mark Redmond, wife Beth and daughters Jesse, Allison, and Jillian. Audrey Schmitz and daughter Heather Smith and husband Grayson, son Louis Schmitz and daughter Michelle Schmitz. Pierre Redmond and sons Drew and Grant, and her youngest child Charles Redmond. Also, twelve great-grandchildren.
Normande was highly active with the North Anson Women’s Club along with Oak Grove Coburn School where Charles graduated from high school. She was extremely interested in art and interior decorating. She was an excellent cook and shared many recipes among family and friends. She even taught eighth graders how to make French crepes. They enjoyed her accent as she spoke French and then explained in English. Naturally, she served them with Maine Maple syrup, strawberries, and whipped cream. I, Lillian, was very proud to have her as a resource for my class. A great French class that day!
Mother always stated, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” She indeed demonstrated this in many ways. Hallelujah Mom!
A memorial service with Father Frank Morin will take place at Plummer Funeral Home in Augusta on May 27, 2022. The service will be at 9 A.M. followed by the burial at 10 A.M. at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to: Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38305 is something Normande would be very grateful for.
