AUGUSTA-Allan C. Sidell Sr., 84, passed away July 8, 2021 at the Alfond Center for Health. He was born August 14, 1936, a son of Lewis and Della (Whitmore) Sidell.
He grew up in Solon and during high school, enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served for three years. He held several jobs throughout his life, but for many years he was employed through the Town of Topsham in the public works department, where he eventually retired. In his younger days, Al fondly remembers volunteering with the Boy Scouts, especially participating in hiking Mt. Katahdin.
Al was a jack of all trades who enjoyed working with his hands. He was a skilled guitar player and his family and friends enjoyed listening to him play some of his favorite country music. He was an avid fisherman whose favorite past times include being on the water and casting a line. Al will be remembered as a respectful gentleman with a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Elaine Sidell; his four children, Alicia, Allan Jr., Alex, and Aric and their families; four sisters, June, Margy, Cheryl and Gloria; and his special feline, “Odie” whom he loved dearly.
Per Al’s request, no services are being held at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330.
