For the past 15 years, I was blessed to have Charlie as a friend in the program and outside. We both traveled a bit for clients, etc., and amazingly would bump in to each other completely unplanned in Kennebunk or Wells, hours away from the many meetings I was lucky enough to attend with him. His wisdom and good nature were not lost on me, and he will be missed very much. My condolences to the entire Clarke family.

I was so saddened to hear about the loss of this very special person. I met Charlie back in 2000 when I started working for School Union 52 and he was the Chairperson for the China School Board. We stayed connected since then through education systems, first China Public Schools and then Regional School Unit 18. Over this time, I learned what a champion he was for education, how dedicated he was to his family and how devoted he was to his causes. I also learned how masterful a storyteller he was! We could talk for hours (he talked - I listened) and did so at times. I was awestruck at how masterfully he would take on, persevere through, and solve complicated issues though his unassuming gentle approach (and we tackled some big issues over the years!) He was so proud of his wife, his son, his brother, and his family, and especially his grandson, Keaghan and loved their weekly Wednesday McDonald's time! Our conversations would always take the necessary detour allowing him to inform me of the latest events in the Clark Family. He was truly a GIANT of a person, but I know that you know this already, and he will be deeply missed. My Deepest sympathies and thoughts are with you now

To Charley's Family,

I served on the RSU-18 School Board for several years with Charley. I was greatly impressed with his commitment to China's students, and the others from the district. We shared some rides together and I enjoyed our "going back and forth" both in conversation and travel. My thoughts are with you all- he was a good guy.
