Eileen M. Poulin - 89, of Augusta, passed away 3/3/21at 12:00 am after a long hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s at MaineGeneral LTC and Rehab Center at Glenridge.
She was born on April 15, 1931 in Lewiston, ME the daughter of Vinton A. Savage and Evelyn (Merriam) Savage.
Mrs. Poulin attended Augusta schools and graduated from Cony High School in 1949. She also attended Gates Business College. She was married to Louis L. Poulin on Feb. 5, 1952 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Augusta.
Eileen worked as a bookkeeper at Augusta Lumber Co. and the University of Maine at Orono.
Once her children were grown, she was employed at Farrell’s & The Village Shop in Augusta.
Eileen wore many hats and was known by many names - Teenie, Mum, Ma, Mom, Aunt Teenie, and Nana. But no matter how you knew her, you could see she had a special knack for making everyone she came in contact with feel special, important and loved.
Her passing leaves us all with a huge hole in our hearts but also countless happy memories to help us stay strong until we meet again.
She will be remembered for hosting many family celebrations including the annual “Family Lobster Day” at their camp on the Upper Narrows Pond. Nana was an excellent cook, and no matter if it was a “simple” cook out or a big holiday dinner, you never left her home without feeling stuffed and each person’s favorite food had been included.
She was always there to cheer us on at Soccer games, dance recitals and school concerts or to lend a hand and shoulder to cry on, a hug or words of encouragement.
Eileen will be remembered most by her family for just spending time with each and every one of us. She loved us all equally and unconditionally. She especially enjoyed her bi-monthly lunches with her special grandson, Ethan. Having him visit, welcome her with a big smile, sing the Barney Song “I love you…”, and give a hug, always made her day.
