Michael J. Moore - age 71, of Woodside Road, Augusta, Maine, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2021 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough, Maine after a brief illness.
Mike was a loving father and a great friend to many. Anyone who knew him loved his genius wit, his fast comebacks, his “smoke” voice expressions, and his passion of riding on two wheels.
Mike was born in Utica, NY on July 2, 1949, the son of Clarence Moore and Shirley (Nightingale) Moore. He was preceded in death by brother Kenny and beloved sister Barbara.
Mike “The Mayor” was employed as a sales/delivery driver by Paul Blouin Performance in Augusta for over 15 years. He took pride in his work and liked to say that he “delivered dreams”. He was previously employed by General Motors Corporation for 14 years.
Mike had a love for woodworking, always creating beautiful pieces, and he worked in construction for many years.
He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 42 years where he sponsored, befriended, and inspired many. Mike was very compassionate, always willing to lend an ear and help others.
Surviving are brothers Dale, David, and Clay; a daughter, Amanda Bockoven; a son, Steven Collier; three grandchildren: Jackson Osteen, Mara Hartwell and Dustin Collier; nieces: Karie Bradshaw and Tatum Smith; and his best friends, Carol Lagassey, and Dustin Gay. Mike also leaves behind many close friends, and “Buddy” Newman, the family dog.
There are no public visiting hours scheduled. A memorial service, in the form of a remembrance motorcycle ride to spread his ashes will be announced in the spring.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME.

Michael Moore, what a good man. We shared many laughs and many miles on our bikes. He used to let me ride on the back of his Harley with him when we would go on bike rides with my mom, Carol. Later, he taught me to ride and went on to help me pick out the perfect motorcycle for myself! Mike gave me me so much useful advice over the years that I knew him. He was so wise and always had a way of helping you ground your thoughts. I will be forever grateful Mike was in my mother's life as well as mine. I will always miss his goat face that always made me laugh. He will be loved and missed forever!!!
