Obituary

PALERMO, MAINE
Patricia B Jones - 76, of Palermo, went home to heaven on February 20, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Augusta, ME on April 4, 1942, and was the daughter of the late Merton (Glidden) Brann and Mary (Sabin) Brann French.
A graduate of Erskine Academy, she then received her diploma in nursing from Maine Medical Center School of Nursing. She continued her education at University of Maine at Farmington and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education. Following graduation from nursing school, Patricia worked briefly at the State Hospital in Augusta. She then continued her nursing career at Augusta General Hospital (now MaineGeneral) where she worked for 40 years, primarily in the coronary care unit and as a night shift supervisor. She was also instrumental in developing the cardiac rehab program at Augusta General Hospital.
She was a devoted member of the Palermo Christian Church and was active in many ministries over the years, including missions committee, clothing exchange shop, and deacons. She even participated in a medical missions trip to Haiti to better understand her son-in-law’s culture.
Patricia was a very creative person. She made countless quilts for her children, grandchildren, friends, and charitable organizations as well. She was a member of several quilting guilds. She was also an active member of the Windsor Historical Society and had a great interest in genealogy. She spent years researching family roots.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David Jones of Palermo, ME; daughter Elizabeth Chamberlain of Palermo, ME, daughter Rebecca D’Haiti and her husband Carrel of Newburgh, ME; son Peter Jones and his wife Lisa of Orrington, ME, son Andrew Jones and his wife Michele of Matawan, NJ, brothers Dave Brann and wife Molly of Homer, AK, Richmond Brann and wife Nancy of Somerville, ME, Robert Brann and wife Priscilla of Windsor, ME, Timothy Brann and wife Sue of Keyport, WA, Steven French and wife Jane of Palermo, ME, step-brother Laurice French of Somerville, ME and step-sister, the late Delores Witham; 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Patricia was an incredibly kind and selfless person, always helping and thinking of others. She had a very special relationship with her great-granddaughter Ava Foster. They had many adventures and explored the world together, by visiting libraries and museums in various towns, and shopping at thrift stores. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on March 2nd at 01:00 PM at the Palermo Christian Church in Palermo, Maine. A family burial will be held at a later date in Alna, Maine.

Patty and I became friends a few years ago through out mutual friend, Cecil Brann. I also knew Patty's mother, Mary, and thought very highly of her. Patty was always there when I needed a hand. Her friendship and love brought me to a new place in my life; one that was marked by many exciting adventures we had as we made our way to Damariscotta and the Miles Thrift store. We had fun. Our lunches were nonstop talks about so many things. Patty was a listener, who always wanted to hear what you had to say. She encouraged me in many areas of my life. Her keen intellect and sense of humor made our times together very special. I will miss her so much and feel so lucky to have become a 'member' of the Jones family through my friendship with Patty. I was very lucky to get to know Ava, a brilliant young child and Patty's great granddaughter, who mesmerized me with her poise, kindness, wonderful manners, and sharing her dreams of becoming a veterinarian. And, she will. I told Patty recently that her love and the times she spent with Ava will contribute to her wonderful life. Patty, you will always be with me. Someone once asked us during one of our outings if we were sisters. Well, if I could choose a sister, you would be the one. You were an angel on earth and now you are God's angel in Heaven. Love, Kathryn Jennings

I just learned of Pat's passing. I know your heart must be heavy with sorrow and at the same time rejoicing that Pat is no longer fighting cancer. She is the victor! I enjoyed our times together over a good meal. Pat loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. John and I will keep you and the family in our prayers.
