Carol Ann Ballard - 73, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2019, with her loving husband by her side. She was born on January 17, 1946, in Gardiner, Maine, the daughter of Fred and Dorothy Grant.
Carol lived a rich and active life. She helped run Ballard Meats & Seafood in Manchester with her husband, Ken, for more than 40 years before retiring to Florida in 2014. In addition to her dedication to the family business, Carol enjoyed traveling with her family and spending time at her home on Silver Lake. Carol treasured family traditions, always hosting memorable Christmas Eve and Fourth of July parties that family and friends never wanted to miss. She had a passion for gardening and doing crafts, and a great talent for decorating her home, with always a remodeling project underway.
Carol was devoted to her husband, Ken, of 55 years, proud of her three loving and successful sons, and especially loved her role as Nanny Ballard to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Carol’s love for life carried over into many great friendships that she treasured.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Dorothy Grant; her mother-in-law, Lillian Ballard; her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Donna Grant; her brother-in-law Thomas Anderson; and her niece Maureen Whitman.
She is survived by her husband, Ken Ballard, Jr.; sons Jeff (Julie) Ballard of Canandaigua, NY, Todd Ballard of Manchester, and Jason (Heidi) Ballard of Readfield; brother Robert Grant (Jenny Meyers) of West Gardiner; sister-in-law Martha Anderson of Smithtown, NY; six grandchildren: Kate (Nate) Murphy of Canandaigua, NY; Kenneth (Melissa) Ballard of North Wales, PA; Keegen (Alisha) Ballard of Augusta; Eben Ballard of Winthrop; Maddie Ballard of Readfield; Reece Daniels of Readfield; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Carol and family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the medical staff, home nursing staff, and many friends who supported Carol during her illness.
Visiting hours will be Friday, January 11, 2019, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta, ME. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Manchester Community Church, 21 Readfield Road, Manchester, ME.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, Office of Philanthropy, P.O. Box 828, Waterville, ME 04903-0828.

Please accept my sympathy for the death of your dear Mrs. Ballard. Your heavenly Father shares the loss also (Ezekiel 18:32).  He has wonderful plans for her future (Hosea 13:14; Revelation 21:3-5).   Here is the link to a short video about the hope for our dead loved ones that has helped me over the years: I sincerely hope it will benefit you as well.  My heartfelt condolences to all of you.   Psalm 37:11, 29; Philippians 4:6-7.

So sorry for the loss of Carol Ballard; your wife, mother, grandmother & friend. No doubt she will be fondly remembered. As you cherish the many memories, reflect on the time when sickness & death will be conditions of the past. (Revelation 21:3,4; 1Corinthians 15: 26) This is what our loving God Jehovah has promised and Jesus Christ himself guaranteed the hope of seeing our loved ones again by means of the resurrection. (John 5:28,29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 26:19) May God’s word comfort you each day, as we await the fulfillment of his promises! (Joshua 23:14)
