Elaine Carpentier, age 83, died Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Lakewood Continuing Care Center, Waterville following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Augusta, ME on September 13, 1935 a daughter of the late Alfred and Julienne (Lessard) Lessard.
She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Louis R. Carpentier; a sister, Jeannine Gosselin and a brother, Joseph Lessard.
Elaine is survived by four daughters: Michelle Carpentier of Augusta, Pamela Looman and her husband Ronald of Oakland, Melissa Lagace and her husband Donald of Sidney and Jennifer Sandusky and her husband Donald of Landenberg, PA; a sister, Joan Lessard of Augusta, a brother-in-law, David Carpenter and his wife Patty, as well as a Memère to nine grandchildren, Stefan, Jasmin, Katie, Liana, Philip, Emily, Olivia, Lily and Luke, and a Great-Memère to four great-grandchildren, Aidan, Kelly, Sayre and Liberty, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Elaine was a graduate of Cony High School. She stayed connected with her fellow graduates by being part of the high school reunion planning committee. She was a communicant of St. Andrews and St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta where she faithfully participated for many years as a sponsor in the RCIA program and a lector.
Elaine was employed by KV Federal Credit Union for 15 years, working as a Teller and Loan Officer. She also worked at Camp Keyes, Maine Teachers Association Credit Union and Dr. Bradford Smith Optometry.
Elaine’s passion for helping to make others look beautiful was evident as she held her beautician’s license for 50 years, perfecting her skills early in her career at Barden’s Beauty Salon and later as a representative for beauty care products such as Fashion Two-Twenty, Lady Finelle and Avon. Elaine also volunteered her beautician services at local nursing and funeral homes.
Elaine’s compassion for others led her into volunteering with the hospice program through HealthReach and at The Bread of Life soup kitchen.
Elaine was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and a 50-year member of St. Agnes Circle of the Daughters of Isabella where she served as Secretary for many years. Elaine also enjoyed time spent socializing with her Red Hat Society friends particularly during their trips to the Maine State Music Theater.
Elaine loved to travel and one of her most treasured memories was of her trip to Hawaii with her dear husband and their lifelong friends.
At the family’s request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 5th at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Committal prayers will follow the Mass at the Church.

I am truly sorry for your loss, please accept my sincere condolences. I hope the Carpentier family find comfort and strength in Jesus promise along with our heavenly father Jehovah of the earthly resurrection found at John 5:28, 29, when death will be eliminated forever found at Revelations 21:4. Truly, what a glorious and almost unbelievable day that will be! It's a reality though for God cannot lie!
