Barbara L. York (Lewis)
WATERVILLE, MAINE
Barbara L. York, age 53, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 30, 2016. She was born in Augusta, ME on December 14, 1962 a daughter of Richard L. and Minnie E. Hutchinson) Lewis.
Mrs. York was a graduate of Cony High School and Kennebec Valley Community College where she earned her Medical Assistant degree. Barbara enjoyed the outdoor's and anything she could do in it, she loved annual camping trips and the traditional " ding ding" that she shared with her loved ones, walks on the beach, especially to the light house's. She loved her family and grandchildren more then life itself, if it involved her family, there was a smile on her face.
She had been employed by Oak Grove Center in Waterville for several years, where she made many special friendships, and considered them to be her second family.
Mrs. York was pre-deceased by her mother, Minnie E. (Hutchinson) Lewis; a sister, Debra A. Greenlaw and a brother Robert Hutchinson.
She is survived by her son, Jesse R. York and his fiancé Sandra Wilson of Topsham; her daughter, Tisha York and boyfriend Jacob Oyler of South China; her father, Richard L. Lewis of Waterville; three sisters: Cathy M. Nguyen of Winslow, Nancy A. Perkins of Augusta and Cookie Gallagher of Maryland; five grandchildren, who she adored deeply every time she spoke to them she would never hang up with out saying, "I love you all the way to heaven and back": Nathaniel Keaton (18), Alana Elizabeth (12), Jerry (10), Quintyn Michael (9), and O'shyanna Star (6); William Freeman of Gardiner who she spent a big part of her life with; a very special individual who she shared the past 7 months with, Jeffrey Smith of Norridgewock; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She held a special place in her heart for her niece, Debra Stratton of Augusta.
Relatives and friends may visit on Saturday, July 9th from 10-11 AM at Plummer Funeral Home, Windsor Chapel, 983 Ridge Rd., Rt. 32, Windsor where a memorial service will follow at 11 AM. A celebration of life will follow after at Tisha and Jake's house at 38 Evergreen Drive in South China.
