Obituary for Valeda Quirion (Poulin)

AUGUSTA, MAINE
Valeda Quirion – age 100, of Townsend Road, died Sunday, October 5, 2014 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta Campus with her daughter, sister and niece by her side. She was born in St. Benoit, P.Q., Canada on March 16, 1914 the daughter of the late Vital Poulin and Valerie (Thibodeau) Poulin.
She attended St. Benoit's School in Canada.
Although she was a homemaker in her own home for most of her life, she had been employed by Bates Mfg. Co. - Edwards Division from 1927 to 1941, and was then employed by Gardiner Shoe Co. from 1953 to 1968.
She was a devoted and caring mother and remarkable lifelong companion to her daughter, Jeanne. She was a close family member to her sister, Simone, and all her nieces and nephews that she loved so much.
Mrs. Quirion was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church of St. Michael Parish and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and AARP. Her devotion to her faith was clearly shown through the daily recitation of many rosaries.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Rosario Quirion in 2003; five sisters: Yvonne Bineau, Rose Tondreau, Albertine Poulin, Alphonsine Lachance and Merilda Paradis and a brother, Avenant Poulin.
Surviving is a daughter, Jeanne Quirion of Augusta; one sister, Simone Poulin of Augusta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may visit Thursday, October 9th from 6-8 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where officers and members of the Ladies of St. Anne are asked to meet at 6 PM to recite prayers for their departed member and Friday, October 10th from 9-10 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 10th at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.
