David T. Potter - age 66, of Chadwick Way, died unexpectedly on Sept. 10, 2018 at his home. He was born in Waterville, ME on May 16, 1952 the son of David Potter and Evelyn (Haskell) Potter.
David was a graduate of Erskine Academy in China and received an Associate degree from the University of Maine at Augusta.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
David was employed as a tax examiner by the State of Maine for many years. He was a black belt in Karate and a member of the United Martial Arts Academy. In the 30+ years he practiced martial arts, he made close friends, many of whom became like an extended family. He shared his love of Karate through teaching many students, and traveled the country both teaching and learning the martial arts.
He was predeceased by his father.
Surviving is his mother, Evelyn Potter of China, ME; son, Shawn Potter of Augusta, ME; sister, Lorraine Rhoades of China, ME; niece, Kelly Rhoades of China, ME: nephew, Kevin Rhoades and wife Jerry of China, ME; and a cousin, Sandra Campbell and her husband Albert of Farmington, ME. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the countless people whose lives he touched.
Friends may visit from 10 AM until 11 AM on Saturday Sept. 15th at Plummer Funeral Home, 983 Ridge Road, Rte. 32, Windsor, ME, where a funeral service will follow the visitation. Burial, with military honors, will be in Branch Mills Cemetery in China. After the service, a gathering for family and friends will be held at his sister's home at 24 Alder Park Rd in China.
