Niall Q. Gleason, age 47, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018. He was the son of the late Edward D. A. Gleason and Tennie Miracle-Gleason, a graduate of Maranacook Community High School and self-employed as a carpenter.
Niall will always be remembered for his genuinely kind and open heart along with his lovingly goofy ways. He will be remembered for his love of dance and music including Hendricks, Zeppelin, and Angels of Montgomery; for his articulate, compassionate and exuberant personality which served him well over the years. Whether flying 13 feet in the air, creating art, writing poetry, building, helping animals or people or on one his many outdoor adventures including camping, fishing, kayaking, hiking, rock climbing or saving a seagull tangled in fishing line stranded on a rock in the Kennebec River, Niall put his full heart and soul into everything he did and he will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his brother, Ed Gleason, his five sisters: Tennie Shardlow, Kathleen Cassidy, Bridget Brozyna, Nora Gleason-Dore, and Geneva Eldridge, and his best friend and life companion, Tracy Thompson, as well as his seventeen nieces and nephews, cousins, and his beloved dog Lucy; he was predeceased by his fur babies Mr. Buckles, Molly, Theo, Brownie, Henry and his little friend Chippy. Relatives and friends may visit from 10AM-12PM on Saturday, September 22nd at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A graveside service will follow at 12:30PM at St. Mary's Cemetery, Western Ave. in Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations of pet food and supplies can be made to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 10 Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME, or to your local animal shelter. If attending visiting hours, donations may be brought with you and will be delivered to the shelter following the service.
