Leslie A. White - age 85, of the Litchfield Road, died September 4, 2018 at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Hallowell, ME on April 8, 1933 the son of George White and Georgia (Pitcher) White.
Mr. White was educated at Gates Business College, his major was business administration.
Prior to his retirement, he was manager of Blue Seal Feeds for many years. He was President and CEO of Paris Farmers Union for many years. The company was near bankruptcy when he started to work. In a few years, with long hours of work, he finally brought it to be profitable again.
He enjoyed Ham Radio and taught Ham Radio operation classes at Cony High School Adult Education for several years.
During the Gulf War, he conversed every evening with some of the soldiers.
Red Sox was his favorite team and he was hoping that they will win the World Series again this year.
He was also a member of the Antique Car Club in Gardiner.
On September 19, 1970, Leslie married Claudette LaForge at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Edmundston, N.B., Canada.
Surviving is his wife, Claudette (LaForge) White of Hallowell; a sister, June Perry of Hallowell, ME and a brother, Philip White and his wife Rose of Florida and Gardiner, ME; also leaves many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, George H. White, four sisters, Geraldine Baitler, Joyce Lunt, Yvonne White and Phyllis Violette.
Friends may visit from 6-8 PM on Friday September 7th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday Sept. 8th at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow in Hallowell Cemetery, Hallowell, ME.
