Eleanor Webb (Webb)
Eleanor M. Webb passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at her home. Born in South Portland, ME on April 20, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Rufus H. Webb, Sr., and Edith (Jellison) Webb.
She attended South Portland schools and graduated from S. Portland High School in the class of 1943 and the University of Maine class of 1947 and obtained a Master’s Degree from Maine in 1972.
She graduated from the Maine General Hospital (Portland) School of Medical Technology and passed National registry exams in 1950.
Miss Webb was employed at Augusta General Hospital (Kennebec Valley Medical Center) as Chief Technologist and Teaching Supervisor from 1956 until retirement in 1992. In 1974, she was instrumental in establishing the Med Lab Science program at UMA, and taught the MLS courses at UMA for 17 years.
She was predeceased by a brother, Rufus H. Webb, Jr., in 2007, and a nephew, Dennis R. Webb in 2018. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Gertrude B. Webb of Portland, the widow of Dennis R. Webb and several great nieces and nephews.
At her request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral. Interment will be in the family lot in Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
