Obituary for Mary Ellen Peaslee (Hold)
Mary Ellen Peaslee – age 84, of Legion Park Road, died March 7, 2018 in Florida after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She is now in her Heavenly home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born in Calais, Maine on October 24, 1933 the daughter of Herbert Leroy Hold and Minnie L. (MacDowell) Hold.
Mrs. Peaslee was a 1950 graduate of Erskine Academy of China, ME where she received high honors.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed in many and various jobs including: Excel Cleaners of Gardiner and Augusta; she was a payroll clerk at E.E. Taylor Shoe Co., Macomber, Farr and Whitten Insurance Co., Charles E. Downing Insurance Co., State of Maine Department of Business Regulation, and she was a self-employed owner/operator of P&M Driving School, as driver education instructor and motor cycle instructor for 20 years.
Mrs. Peaslee was a member of North Windsor Baptist Church and Penney Memorial United Baptist Church in Augusta.
She was very involved in activities in Windsor, a member of the Maine State Grange and Erskine Academy Alumni Association and she and her husband enjoyed travelling far and wide.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 66 years, Garfield H. Peaslee, their oldest daughter Jennifer S. Mills and husband Robert W. Mills, Augusta and youngest daughter Beverley A. Michaud, Windsor. She has three Grandchildren, Garfield Mills and wife Jenn, Pittston Academy Grant Township, (Rockwood), Maine, Ira Michaud, and wife Kristin and Amber Michaud, Windsor. Ten Great Grandchildren: Edward Mills, Vassalboro, Shawn Mills, Sanford, Cody and his fiancée Anna, Pineland Farms, New Gloucester, Danielle Mills, a Marine stationed in Cherry Point, North Carolina, Sofia Michaud, Ian Michaud, Evie-Lou Michaud all from Damariscotta, and Richard Theriault, Saphyre Hanington, Saber Hanington all of Windsor, Maine. She is also blessed to have a great great granddaughter, Errie Mills, Vassalboro and a great, great grandson Easton Mills, New Gloucester. She was very proud of her five generation family.
She also is survived by several brother and sister-in- laws: Keith and Sylvia Peaslee, Vassalboro, Judy and Richardson Hutchinson, Clarence (Hank) and Lib Peaslee, Pamela and Daniel Gordon, and Marion Peaslee (Casey), all of Windsor, plus several nieces and nephews.
There are no planned visiting hours. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday May 20, 2018 at Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, 393 Water Street, Augusta, ME. A reception will follow. Burial will be in Dyer Hill Cemetery, Windsor, ME at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, "Memorials Fund" in her honor.
