Patricia Knox (LaFrance)
Patricia A. Knox, 82, of the Alton Road, died January 8, 2018 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Glenridge Drive, after a brief illness. She was born in Augusta, ME on August 27, 1935, the daughter of Charles LaFrance and Jeannette (Coulombe) Valliere.
As a young girl, Patricia grew up on Bond Brook Road in Augusta, and the family later moved to Lawrence, Mass. She loved to sing, especially Patsy Cline tunes. She also loved to dance and, as a young gal, taught dance at Fred Astaire Studios in Massachusetts.
She met her husband, Earl, at Island Park on Cobbossee Lake in Winthrop, where dances were held back in the day. She and Earl married and had three children: Melissa, Melanie and Michael. Earl served in the U.S. Marine Corps and they raised their children in various states where he was stationed, including Virginia, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Minnesota and finally, Maine.
Prior to her retirement, Patricia worked at Hallowell Shoe Co., and was later employed as a jewelry clerk at Value House, Service Merchandise and G.M. Pollack and Sons. She enjoyed people and loved jewelry.
In her later years, she enjoyed her Friday night poker games with the girls and attending her grandchildren’s events.
Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Earl L. Knox of Augusta; a son, Michael L. Knox of Belgrade; two daughters: Melissa A. Hartman and her husband, Jim Ellis, of Simsbury, CT, and Melanie G. Knox of Belgrade; nine grandchildren: Lindsay, Ashley, Holly, Tyler, Tyson, Tiarra, Larry, Jacob and Kylee; and three great-grandchildren: Luke, Sophia and Janna.
There no public visiting hours scheduled. Committal prayers will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, January 26, in the chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, ME .
