Walter A. Panek, II, age 63, died Thursday, October 12, 2017, following a long illness. He was born in Augusta, ME on November 2, 1953, a son of the late Walter A. and Esther (Robbins) Panek.
Walter graduated from Cony High School in 1973. For the past 25 years, he greatly enjoyed his work as a tile mason and was the owner of Panek Tile Installation. Walter was meticulous in his work and was well-respected by those in the construction business as well as his clients and he was fortunate to make many good friends over the years through this work.
Walter found joy in the simple things in life: building and fixing things, cutting and stacking wood, good music and good food. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed the annual trips to hunting camp. In recent years Walter's strong and unwavering faith brought him great happiness, comfort and strength.
Walter is survived by his wife of 32 years, Roxanne (Hynes) Panek of Manchester; two sons: Matthew and Joshua, and Joshua’s wife, Ashley; and a granddaughter, Olivia. His family will dearly miss his laugh, his wisdom and knowledge, and his life lessons.
Walter's family would like to express sincere gratitude and thanks to all of those at Heritage Rehabilitation and Living Center and Beacon Hospice who provided such wonderful care to Walter and such kindness to his family.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 18th at 11 AM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
