Carole Morton (Roy)
Carole Maxine Morton - age 74, went peacefully to be with God on September 19, 2017 at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a very long illness.
Carole was born on December 31,1942 in Eagle Lake, Maine to Clarence Roy and Cecile (Plourde) Roy.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Charles Morton, sister Marie Rose (Roy) Lunt and step-sons James Morton and Robert Morton.
Surviving are two daughters: Mona and partner Skeet Smith and Sheri and husband Jon Rowe; and one son, John White Jr.; eight grandchildren: Jason White, Jamie Park, April Bouchard, William Barrows IV, Alisha Barrows, Robert Barrows and wife Allison, Stephen Barrows and Dylan Messer; eight great-grandchildren: Christopher, Hunter, Kaleb, Alana, Bradley, Bailey, Liam and Riley; her siblings: Clarence Roy Jr., Mary Anne and husband Robert Trask, Alice and husband Rodney Gove, Glenn and wife Shelia, Mona McDonald, William and wife Sarah; her uncles: Joseph Leo Plourde and wife Dorothy and Richard Plourde and wife JoAnne; step-children: Mary, Charlotte, John and Alfred Morton as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Even though Carole struggled with many health issues throughout her life she was a very strong woman who battled heart disease and cancer, having her first of several heart surgeries in 1963. When she could work, she worked as a waitress and very much enjoyed her time as a waitress at the Colonial Restaurant, Tina’s Italian Restaurant and at The Brass Key a family owned restaurant. She enjoyed waiting on patrons and made many friends throughout the years.
One of her greatest achievements was receiving her GED. Carole also enjoyed road trips and would go for “just a ride” anytime she could. She enjoyed playing cards, going out to eat, puzzle books, Dunkin Donuts coffee and casino trips with her daughters.
There are no public visiting hours scheduled. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday Sept. 23rd at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta.
