Obituary for Cheryl Lee Schena (Anderson)
Cheryl L. (Anderson) Schena - age 70, died September 13, 2017 after a 9 year battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Portland, ME on September 18, 1946 the daughter of Philip C. Anderson and Dorothy F. Anderson.
She graduated from Westbrook High School in 1964. Cheryl will be remembered for her "go with the flow" attitude. She never let things get to her and never sweated the small stuff. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, especially Christmas stockings. Her real love was her creativeness with stained glass. Her most memorable creations will be the Christmas ornaments she crafted for each of her children's Christmas trees these will be cherished for years to come. Cheryl loved Siamese cats and relished the companionship of her two babies Simon and Tommy throughout her illness.
Cheryl's working career took her down many avenues. She dabbled in real estate in her younger years and even tried her hand as a breakfast cook at McDonald's only to realize that getting up at O'Dark Hundred was not her cup of tea. She held positions at Associate Grocers of Maine, Everett J. Prescott, and Maine Drilling and Blasting. She retired from Central Maine Power in 2008 due to her illness.
She was predeceased by her Father and Mother and her brothers: Philip E. Anderson and Robert Anderson.
She is survived by four daughters and one son: Barbara Logan and her husband Bill of Augusta, Lizbeth Parent of Painted Post, NY, Mary Blake of Strong, John Washburn of Randolph and Jessica Washburn of Bailey Island and her good friend and ex-husband Joseph Washburn; five grandchildren: Brooke and Bayleigh Logan, Gavyn, Duncan and Ian Washburn, one great-grandchild, Noah Logan, her brother, Jack Anderson and sisters: Patricia Morse of Westbrook and Kathryn Phillips of Windham.
There will be no public visitation. A family graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook in October.
